Public videos, Reels and Live replays

Public videos, Reels and Live replays all work from a link. On a computer, click the three dots on the post and choose Copy link; on the phone app, tap Share, then Copy link. The video has to be playable without logging in: private, friends-only and group videos cannot be fetched. For those, download your own video from Facebook and upload the file instead, up to 500 MB and 6 hours long.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Facebook videos can I transcribe?
Public ones: videos, Reels and Live replays that anyone can play without logging in. Private, friends-only and group videos cannot be fetched, because Hear2Text sees only what a logged-out visitor sees. If a video is yours, download it from Facebook and upload the file. One video per link; pages and playlists are refused.
Can I transcribe a Facebook Live video?
Yes, once the broadcast has ended and the replay is public. Hear2Text does not transcribe while a stream is still live. When the Live finishes, Facebook saves it as a video on the page or profile; copy that link and paste it in. Replays up to 6 hours long are accepted on every plan, including the free one.
Can I transcribe Facebook Reels?
Yes. Paste the link to a public Reel and it is transcribed like any other Facebook video. Open the Reel, tap Share, then Copy link. Background music under the speech can lower accuracy, and a Reel that is only music will give you little text, because lyrics are not what Hear2Text is built for.
Can I upload the captions back to Facebook?
Yes, on a paid plan. Export the transcript as an SRT file, which keeps the segment timestamps, then add it as a caption file in the video's settings on Facebook. Read it through first and fix names or misheard words in the editor. The free plan exports TXT only, which has no timing and will not work as captions.
Does it work with Facebook Watch videos?
Yes, if the video is public. Videos shown in Facebook Watch are ordinary Facebook videos, so copy the link from the video itself and paste it in. If Facebook asks you to log in before it will play the video, Hear2Text cannot fetch it either; download the file with permission and upload it instead, up to 500 MB.
