Who Uses MP4 Transcription?

Teachers, editors, creators and teams all end up with speech saved as MP4.

  • Educators & Trainers

Teachers upload recorded lessons and training videos and turn the transcript into course notes for students who prefer text. Slides and on-screen text are not read, only speech.

  • Filmmakers & Editors

Editors export SRT or VTT files on the paid plan and import them into Premiere Pro, Final Cut or DaVinci Resolve as a first subtitle pass to correct, instead of typing captions from scratch.

  • Corporate Teams

Teams upload recorded meetings and webinars saved as MP4 and search the transcript for a decision instead of rewatching the call. Recordings only, not live calls.

  • Content Creators

Creators turn a tutorial or vlog into a blog post, video description and social captions, starting from an editable transcript rather than a blank page.

Frequently Asked Questions

What you get when you turn an MP4 into text, with subtitle files on the paid plan.

How long does it take to transcribe an MP4 video?

Usually minutes, not hours. The audio is taken out of the video and transcribed in one pass, so the time depends mostly on how long the recording is, not on its resolution. You can leave the page while it runs; the transcript appears in your account. Every plan accepts videos up to 6 hours and 500 MB, and the free plan covers 120 minutes a week.

Can I get subtitles directly from my MP4?

Yes, on the paid plans. After transcription you can export SRT or VTT files timed from the segment timestamps and import them into Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve or YouTube. Subtitles are separate files; they are not burned into the video. Check the text in the browser editor first. The free plan exports TXT only.

What if my MP4 has multiple audio tracks?

Only the main audio track is transcribed. If your MP4 has several tracks, for example game sound and a microphone, the others are ignored, so put the voice on the main track or export it as a separate audio file before uploading. Any common audio format works, up to 500 MB and 6 hours, and the transcript comes out the same.

Does video quality affect transcription accuracy?

No. Resolution makes no difference, because only the audio is transcribed. What matters is the sound: a clear voice close to the microphone reaches up to 99% accuracy, while background noise, music under speech, people talking over each other and distant microphones lower it. Exporting at a lower resolution is a good way to fit a long video under 500 MB.

Can I transcribe screen recordings and tutorials?

Yes. Screen recordings, software tutorials and recorded presentations transcribe well as long as the narration is clear. Only the audio is transcribed: text on screen, slides and code are not read. Keep music and system sounds low under the voice. Files up to 500 MB and 6 hours work; a long high-resolution recording may need trimming or compressing first.

What export formats are available for video transcription?

TXT on every plan; SRT and VTT subtitles, Word and PDF on the paid plans. Subtitle files use the timestamp on each segment and import into most video editors, including Premiere Pro, Final Cut and DaVinci Resolve. Edits you make in the browser carry into the SRT and VTT files. On the free plan, your 120 weekly minutes export as plain text.
