How accurate is speaker identification?
It is reliable when voices are distinct and people take turns. Speaker identification labels each voice as Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on, on every plan; it does not know names, so you rename the voices on the paid plans. Crosstalk, similar voices and one shared distant microphone cause mix-ups, so check who said a quote before you publish it.
Can I transcribe phone call recordings?
Yes, as long as you have the call as an audio file. Export it from your call recorder or phone app as MP3, M4A, WAV or a similar format and upload it, up to 500 MB and 6 hours. Phone audio is narrow and compressed, so expect somewhat lower accuracy than a studio recording. Hear2Text does not record calls itself, and you should get consent first.
Are my interview recordings kept confidential?
Your recordings and transcripts are private to your account and stay there until you delete them; nobody else sees them unless you export and share them. Hear2Text holds no certification such as HIPAA or SOC 2, so check your newsroom, ethics board or employer rules before uploading sensitive interviews, and anonymise sources where they require it.
Can I transcribe interviews in other languages?
Yes. Hear2Text handles 100 languages and detects the spoken language automatically, so you do not pick one before uploading. On the paid plans you can also translate the finished transcript into another language. Strong accents and people switching languages mid-sentence lower accuracy, so check quotes in those passages against the recording.
How do I find a specific quote in an interview?
Search the transcript for a word or phrase, or ask the AI assistant where the interviewee talked about a topic. Every segment carries a timestamp, so you can play that moment and confirm the exact wording. Timestamps are per segment, not per word. Always check a quote against the audio before it goes to print, because a single misheard word can change its meaning.
Can I share interview transcripts with my team?
Yes, by exporting it. The free plan exports TXT, and the paid plans add Word, PDF, SRT and VTT, so you can send an editor or co-author a clean document or drop it into a shared folder. There is no direct link to Google Drive, Slack or other tools; you download the file and share it the way you normally would.
