Frequently Asked Questions

Are AI transcripts admissible in court?
Do not count on ours: a Hear2Text transcript is uncertified AI output, with no certificate of accuracy and nobody who has sworn to it, and admissibility is for the court and your jurisdiction's rules to decide. Anything filed or read into the record should come from a certified court reporter or transcriptionist. Use ours for preparation, review and internal notes, and verify a line against the recording before you quote it anywhere that counts.
Does AI transcription affect attorney-client privilege?
That depends on your jurisdiction's rules, not on the software: uploading hands the recording to a third-party vendor, so check the rules on third-party processing, and your client's instructions, before you upload privileged material. What we do is protect the file: uploads travel over an encrypted connection, recordings and transcripts stay private to your account, and you can delete both whenever you decide you are done with them. We make no legal representation about privilege or confidentiality obligations.
Does it understand legal terminology?
It handles everyday legal language well, but there is no legal dictionary or custom word list behind it, and nowhere to upload a glossary of your case's names. Latin terms, statute citations, party names and unusual surnames are where mistakes cluster, so read those closely. You can correct any line yourself and undo the correction later, and the timestamp beside it takes you back to the audio to confirm the wording.
Can I format transcripts for court standards?
No. There is no court-format template: no line numbering, no page-and-line citation, no index and no certification page. What you get is a timestamped transcript on screen, with the speakers separated. The free plan exports plain TXT and the paid one adds Word, PDF, SRT and VTT, with the speakers' names in the file if you ask for them; reformat it in Word however your own file wants it.
How long does it take to get a deposition transcript?
A certified transcript from the court reporter usually takes days; a working transcript from Hear2Text comes back minutes after you upload the recording. It is typically 95-99% accurate on clear audio, one voice at a time close to a decent microphone, while a speakerphone, crosstalk or a hearing recorded from the back of the room pulls that down, and proper names and figures are the first casualties.
