Paste the link to a VOD, highlight or clip

No need to download the VOD first. Free plan: 120 minutes every week, streams up to 6 hours.

VODs, highlights and clips

Open the VOD, highlight or clip on Twitch, use Share to copy its link, and paste it here. You do not need to download anything. Recordings up to 6 hours are accepted, and the language is detected automatically, so streams in any of 100 languages work. Twitch deletes past broadcasts after a while, so transcribe a VOD before it expires, or save a highlight to keep it. Streams cannot be transcribed live, and subscriber-only VODs cannot be fetched; for those, upload the file itself.

Start Transcribing

From a stream to clips, posts and recaps

Most of what makes a stream worth watching is said out loud: the commentary, the explanations, the conversations with chat. With the transcript in hand you can find the ten minutes worth a YouTube upload, pull quotes for social posts, write a recap for Discord or turn a tutorial stream into a written guide. Chat messages are not part of the audio, so they do not appear. Accuracy depends on the mix: loud game audio or music under your voice and guests talking over each other lower it, while a clear microphone above the game sound can reach up to 99%.

Start Transcribing

Ask questions about the whole stream

A four-hour stream is hard to skim. Ask the assistant where you talked about the patch notes, which moments got the biggest reaction, or what you promised chat for next week, and it answers from the transcript with the timestamps to jump back to. The assistant is part of the paid plans.

  • List highlights with their times
  • Draft a description for the YouTube upload
  • Pull out lines worth clipping

How to transcribe a Twitch VOD

Copy the VOD link from Twitch, paste it, and read the stream as text a few minutes later.

  1. Step 01

    Copy the VOD link

On Twitch, open the past broadcast, highlight or clip, press Share and copy the link.

  2. Step 02

    Let it transcribe

Hear2Text fetches the audio and detects the language on its own. A long VOD takes minutes, not hours.

  3. Step 03

    Search and correct

Search for the moments you need, jump by timestamp and fix game names or usernames the AI misheard.

  4. Step 04

    Export and reuse

Export TXT on the free plan, or SRT, VTT, Word and PDF on a paid plan, and turn the text into clips, captions or posts.

Who uses Twitch transcripts

For anyone who needs what was said on a stream without watching all of it again.

  • Streamers

A streamer transcribes last night's VOD to find clip-worthy moments, write the YouTube description and remember what they promised chat, before Twitch deletes it.

  • Stream editors

An editor handed a five-hour VOD searches the transcript for the funniest exchanges and the key plays, notes their times, and cuts the YouTube version from that list.

  • Community managers

A community manager transcribes the weekly dev stream or announcement and posts an accurate written recap to Discord, so members who missed it get the details right.

  • Esports analysts

An analyst transcribes casts and post-match interviews to quote players and casters, searching the text for a team or map instead of rewatching whole broadcasts.

What you get with a Twitch transcript

  1. VOD, highlight and clip links

Past broadcasts, highlights and clips all work from their public link. Subscriber-only VODs do not; upload the file instead.

  2. Long streams in one go

A whole broadcast of up to 6 hours goes in as one recording, so the transcript runs from the starting screen to the raid without gaps.

  3. Timestamps on every segment

Every segment starts with its time in the stream, which is what you need to cut a clip or set a YouTube chapter.

  4. Search the whole stream

Search the text for a game, a guest or a sponsor read and land on the moment it was said, instead of scrubbing through hours of video.

  5. Captions for the YouTube upload

Export TXT on the free plan. Paid plans add SRT and VTT captions for the YouTube re-upload, plus Word and PDF.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Twitch videos can I transcribe?
Public past broadcasts (VODs), highlights and clips. Paste the twitch.tv/videos link or the clip link and Hear2Text fetches the audio for you. A stream cannot be transcribed while it is still live; wait until the broadcast ends and the VOD appears. Subscriber-only videos and deleted VODs cannot be fetched, and one link means one video.
Can I transcribe a long Twitch VOD?
Yes, up to 6 hours per recording on every plan, including the free one. A marathon stream longer than that has to be cut into parts before uploading. Keep in mind the free plan gives 120 minutes a week, so a three-hour VOD needs the Monthly ($9.99) or Yearly ($89.99) plan, which have unlimited minutes under a fair-use limit of 1,200 minutes a day.
How do I find the best moments in a long stream?
Search the transcript or ask the AI assistant. Every segment is timestamped, so searching for a word such as a boss name, a sponsor or a guest takes you to the exact point in the stream. You can also ask the assistant which moments were the most eventful and it answers from the text. It only knows what was said, not what happened on screen.
Can I make YouTube chapters from a Twitch VOD transcript?
Yes, with a little editing. Every segment of the transcript carries its start time, so you can scan it and copy the times of each topic change into a YouTube chapter list. The AI assistant can also list the main topics with their times as a first draft. Check each time against the video before you publish.
Can I transcribe subscriber-only VODs?
No. Subscriber-only VODs need a logged-in account, and Hear2Text can only fetch videos anyone can watch without signing in. If it is your own channel, download the VOD from your Twitch creator dashboard, or use your local OBS recording, and upload the file instead. Uploads can be up to 500 MB and 6 hours long.
