Who Benefits from Subtitle Generation

Anyone who publishes video people watch with the sound off

  • Content Creators

A YouTuber uploads each new video, checks the names in the transcript, and adds the SRT file in YouTube Studio for viewers watching without sound.

  • Marketing Teams

A marketer captions product videos and ads for social feeds, where most people scroll with the sound off.

  • Educators & Trainers

A teacher records a lesson, generates VTT captions for the course video, and gives students the TXT transcript as notes.

  • Video Producers

An editor imports the SRT file into the timeline as a caption track instead of typing subtitles by hand.

Key Features for Subtitle Generation

  1. Timed Segments

Every segment carries its start and end time, so subtitle lines follow the speech without manual timing.

  2. Speaker Identification

Voices are labelled Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on, which helps with interviews and panels; on the paid plan you can put the speaker in the subtitle file too.

  3. Styled by Your Player

SRT and VTT files carry text and timing only, so your player or editor decides the font, size and position.

  4. Five Files at Once

On the paid plan, up to five videos transcribe at the same time, so a series does not queue one by one.

  5. Edit Before You Export

Fix a word in the transcript and the SRT or VTT file picks up the correction when you download it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What video formats are supported for subtitle generation?
Almost any video file works: MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WEBM and other common formats, up to 500 MB and 6 hours. Instead of uploading, you can paste a public link from YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X or LinkedIn. Private or login-only videos cannot be fetched, so download those yourself and upload the file. Playlists and channels are refused; use one video per link.
How accurate are the AI-generated subtitles?
It is accurate on clear speech: up to 99%, with 95–99% the honest range. Background music under the voice, noise, people talking over each other, distant microphones and heavy accents lower it. Because every subtitle line comes from the transcript, you can fix any wrong word in the browser editor before you download the file, and the correction carries into the export.
What subtitle formats can I export?
On the paid plan you can export SRT and VTT subtitle files, plus TXT, Word and PDF transcripts. SRT works in almost every video player and editor; VTT is the web standard used by HTML5 players. ASS is not offered. Timestamps are per segment, not per word. The free plan exports TXT only, which is fine for reading but not a subtitle file.
Can I translate subtitles to other languages?
Partly. The $9.99 monthly and $89.99 yearly plans include AI translation of the transcript into more than 60 languages, but SRT and VTT files are exported in the spoken language, so a translated subtitle track cannot be downloaded from the web app yet. The free plan does not include translation. It transcribes in the spoken language, which is detected automatically across 100 languages, and exports TXT only.
How do I add the subtitles to my video?
You upload the file alongside the video; Hear2Text does not burn subtitles into the picture. On the paid plan, download the SRT or VTT file, then add it in YouTube Studio's subtitles section, in your Vimeo video's settings, or import it into your video editor as a caption track. Viewers can then switch the captions on and off.
Is there a limit on video length?
Yes, each video can be up to 6 hours long and up to 500 MB, on every plan. The free plan gives you 120 transcription minutes every week, resetting Monday, and exports TXT only. SRT and VTT subtitle files come with the $9.99 monthly or $89.99 yearly plan, which has unlimited minutes under a 1,200-minute daily fair-use limit and transcribes five files at once.
