Frequently Asked Questions

What video formats can I convert to text?
Almost any: MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WEBM and other common formats, up to 500 MB and 6 hours per file. You can also paste a public link from YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn or Twitch instead of uploading. Private or login-only videos cannot be fetched, and Google Drive or Dropbox import is not available, so download the file and upload it.
How long does video to text conversion take?
Usually minutes, not hours. Once the video is uploaded or its public link is fetched, the audio is transcribed in one pass and the transcript opens in your browser. Longer recordings take longer, and a video can run up to 6 hours. On the paid plan five videos can transcribe at the same time; the free plan handles one at a time.
Is the transcription accurate?
Yes, on clear audio it reaches up to 99%, and 95–99% is the honest range. Music under speech, background noise, people talking over each other, distant microphones and heavy accents lower it. Every transcript opens in a browser editor with timestamps on each segment, so you can jump to the moment in question and fix a word before exporting.
Can I transcribe videos in different languages?
Yes. Hear2Text transcribes 100 languages and detects the spoken one automatically, so you never pick a language first. On the paid plans ($9.99 a month or $89.99 a year) you can also translate the finished transcript into another language. The free plan transcribes in the original language and exports TXT. Accuracy is best with clear speech and one person talking at a time.
What export formats are available?
It depends on your plan. The free plan exports TXT only. The $9.99 monthly and $89.99 yearly plans add Word, PDF, SRT and VTT, so you can hand a document to a colleague or upload subtitle files to YouTube or Vimeo. All exports use the transcript as you edited it, with timestamps per segment rather than per word.
Is my video data secure?
Yes, it stays private to your account. Uploads travel over an encrypted connection, and your video and its transcript stay private to your account unless you choose to share them. Nothing is posted publicly. Hear2Text does not hold HIPAA or SOC 2 certification, so check your own rules before uploading sensitive recordings.
