Transcribe a MOV file
Paste a link to the file, or press Transcribe to upload it
Free plan: 120 minutes every week. Files up to 500 MB and 6 hours.
Upload MOV files without converting
You can upload MOV files as they are, up to 500 MB and 6 hours long. Only the audio track is transcribed, so video codec and resolution do not affect the result, but they drive the file size: 4K iPhone video reaches 500 MB within minutes. For long clips, trim the part you need, record at 1080p, or extract the audio. Clear speech near the microphone gives up to 99% accuracy; wind, music and crosstalk lower it.
Start TranscribingFrom iPhone, QuickTime or Final Cut
On an iPhone, videos live in the Photos app; tap Upload here and choose the clip from your library, or AirDrop it to a Mac first. On a Mac, QuickTime Player and Shift-Command-5 save screen recordings to the Desktop as MOV. From Final Cut Pro or iMovie, export the finished cut, or share just the audio to keep the file small. Every one of these uploads the same way.
Start TranscribingAsk questions about your video
Once your MOV is transcribed, ask the AI assistant about it: what was decided in a recorded call, where a product demo explains pricing, or which clips in a long vlog are worth cutting. The assistant is part of the paid plans.
- Get the gist of a long recording
- Pull out names, dates and decisions
- Ask where a topic comes up
- List the topics the video covers
How to transcribe a MOV file
Upload the MOV file, let the language be detected, check the text, then export it.
- Step 01
Upload the MOV
Choose the MOV from your iPhone's Photos, your Mac's Desktop or an editor export. Up to 500 MB and 6 hours.
- Step 02
Language detected, text created
The spoken language is detected automatically and the speech becomes text with a timestamp on every segment, usually in minutes.
- Step 03
Review and fix
Play back any segment, fix names and technical terms in the browser, and check quotes against the video.
- Step 04
Export the transcript
Download TXT on the free plan. Paid plans add SRT and VTT captions, Word and PDF.
Who transcribes MOV files
Anyone with Apple-made video: phone clips, screen recordings and edited cuts turned into text you can read, search and reuse.
iPhone Videographers
You filmed a talk, a family story or a site walkthrough on your phone. Upload the clip and keep the words as text you can search and quote.
Video Editors
Transcribe the audio from a Final Cut timeline to find soundbites by reading, then use SRT export on a paid plan as a start for captions.
Mac Screen Recorders
You recorded a tutorial or a call with QuickTime. Transcribe it to write step-by-step notes or send colleagues the text instead of the whole video.
Researchers and Consultants
Recorded interviews, site visits or client walkthroughs filmed as MOV become text you can skim, quote and file with the project.
What you get with a MOV transcript
ProRes Workflow
ProRes masters are usually too big to upload. Export an audio-only file or a small proxy from your editor and transcribe that.
Works From Your iPhone
Pick a clip straight from your Photos library in the phone browser, or record and transcribe in the Hear2Text app for iPhone.
HEVC (H.265) Videos
The default iPhone video format uploads without conversion. Only the sound is used, so the codec never changes the transcript.
Speaker Labels
Each speaker is labelled (Speaker 1, Speaker 2) on every plan, which helps with interviews and recorded calls. On the paid plans you add the names.
Long Recordings
Files up to 500 MB and recordings up to 6 hours on every plan. For bigger 4K clips, trim them or extract the audio first.
